O projeto BIOMETORE tem por objetivo conhecer a biodiversidade dos montes submarinos no Great Meteor e Madeira-Tore, e compreender as pressões humanas a que os ecossistemas estão sujeitos. Estas áreas de estudo constituem ecossistemas únicos, e são pontos excecionais de Vida marinha. Para cumprir o objetivo, reuniu-se uma equipa multidisciplinar constituída por todas as principais instituições de investigação marinha do país, de modo a recolher e analisar dados realizando campanhas de investigação científica, nos dois territórios submarinos. No dia 28 de Abril de 2017 irá decorrer no IPMA, em Algés, o Open Day do projeto BIOMETORE, no qual serão apresentados e discutidos os principais resultados obtidos.
