The activities on board include collection of samples of water for physico-chemical analysis, phytoplancton identification, sampling zooplancton, small pelagics (fishes, shrimps and cephalopods) that will serve for molecular analysis, evaluation of biodiversity and for evaluation of trophic webs of the seamounts.

Also, hidrophones will be collected, with the objective of monitoring sea mammals, that had been placed in Gorringe during an scientific expedition that took place last year in the same project. In collaboration with the activities of validation of the sensor OLCI in the satellite Sentinel-3 (S3VT, ESA/EUMETSAT), it will also be take the opportunity to collect data in situ of radiometry and biogeochemical parameters of samples of water. These data will permit to evaluate the primary data and derivatives form the satellite and to develop regional bio-optical algorithm for the Atlantic around the Iberian Peninsula, important to estimate the primary production.
